How to Make Your Home Look More Expensive on a Budget

Chances are if you’re reading this post it’s because you love the “luxury look” but don’t have the budget to support your expensive taste. As a real estate agent, I’ve had the opportunity to step into a handful of homes for sale that look expensive because the homeowners knew the tricks on how to make a home look more expensive on a budget.

Below are 5 quick and easy tips you can use to accomplish the “luxury look” without breaking the bank. Enjoy!

1. Large area rug

Throw a large area rug into your living space or your bedroom to create warmth and comfort in your home. Rugs are a great way to establish a grounding element to your space and tie in the surrounding furniture. Look for rugs with texture and color and don’t be afraid to be bold in your choice!

2. Invest in the classics

Do your best to stay clear of trending furniture styles as in a few years these staple pieces will look out of place and outdate the home. Instead, invest (or inherent) a comfy-classic leather chair you can add as a focal point in your living room or bedroom. Throw a neutral-colored fuzzy blanket over the arm of the chair to tie it in with the sofa or bed.

3. Paint with white

Stay clear of the typical beige paint color we’re all told to put on our walls. Instead go for white paint to brighten up rooms in your home that get the most traffic- like the kitchen. Use the same color to paint cabinets and don’t forget to paint the ceiling!

4. Flowers

You’d be surprised how fresh flowers will help create a luxury feel to an otherwise dull-space. Commit to a monthly flower-budget and see how fresh flowers change your state of mind and the state of your home all at once.

5. Bring in the brass

Add pops of brass to the cabinet knobs of your bathroom or light fixtures in the living room. This material is not only timeless but gives off an expensive vibe in a subtle way.

There you have it! 5 easy “expensive home hacks” that you can do today to create value to your home. If you want more tips and advice on this and more, contact me today!
