Layla was born in Huntington Beach, grew up in Palm Springs and currently a resident of Yucca Valley in between Pioneertown and Joshua Tree. She is familiar with local restaurants, schools and communities in both the desert and coastal communities. She is an alumnus of Chapman University in Orange and earned a Master of Arts in Special Education. She comes from a background of 20 years in Education as a Special Educator and a small business owner of WeeHands with Layla that provides Parent and Baby Sign Language classes across Orange County.

During her career in education she learned to be patient, a good communicator, proactive and learned the importance of meeting the individual needs of each student and family.

Layla Ortiz-Thorson entered the Real Estate world in order to provide for her daughter and share her experience with meeting the needs of individuals. She knows the importance of finding the home that will provide the best quality of life for you and your loved ones. She lives with her daughter, wife Tabby & Tortie Cats and 5 Buff and Arcana chickens where they enjoy finding treasures for their mid-century home, gazing at the stars in the desert sky and watching the quail, and jack rabbits outside.
